After quitting his post at Amazon Game Studios earlier this summer, Far Cry 2 director Clint Hocking has been welcomed back to Ubisoft as a creative director at Ubisoft Toronto.
Longtime developers will remember that Hocking spent roughly nine years working at Ubisoft Montreal on games like Splinter Cell and Far Cry 2 before resigning in 2010. He then bounced from LucasArts, to Valve, to Amazon over a five-year period during which he “learned a lot” and did “some interesting, challenging work,” according to a post on his personal blog.
“But, as the five year mark approached, and I realized I had not shipped a game in seven years, I started to become anxious and depressed,” Hocking writes. “As a result, I decided at the beginning of the summer to return to Canada.”
It’s yet unclear what Hocking will be working on at Ubisoft Toronto, which underwent a bit of a staffing shake-up late last year when managing director Jade Raymond left to eventually start her own studio, Motive, at Electronic Arts. In her wake, Splinter Cell: Blacklist senior producer Alexandre Parizeau stepped up to take the reins.
